ACTION COUNCILS

 

All members are encouraged to join one (or more) of the action councils listed below. The councils’ programs of work drive the Chamber’s activities, which affect our business community. As a Chamber member, you are very welcome to attend a meeting of each council to learn more about the work the council does.

 

Agriculture - Develops and promotes our diversified agricultural community in the County. This Council provides programs, concepts and solutions to insure the maintenance and prosperity of our working landscapes and rural areas.
Meets on the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 AM at the Agricultural Office.
BENEFITS THE ENTIRE COUNTY

 

Ambassadors - Individuals who help provide hospitality and promote goodwill at Chamber functions. Meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 10:00 AM at the Chamber office.

 

Junior Ambassadors - A group of local high school students who help at Chamber functions and create events and campaigns to raise funds to enable successful candidates the ability to apply for scholarships as graduating seniors.
Meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM at the Chamber office. Contact for more information (530) 621-5885.

Junior Ambassador Leadership Program Application for Membership

 

Business Resource Center and Lending Library - Provides a resource center and library for all County business with computer and Internet access. Services and support are provided for start-up, growing or failing businesses throughout the County. Professional business counseling is provided through SBDC.

Cap-to-Cap and Regional Chambers Coalition - The County Chamber coordinates and organizes participation from County agencies as well as chambers of commerce to build a strong regional presence and partnership with the Sac/Metro Chamber and chambers throughout the region.
ALL CHAMBERS ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE

 

Education - Works to promote better education in our community through the Chamber Scholarship Program and other educational endeavors.
This program provides scholarships for people that live and work in El Dorado County.
Meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 AM at the El Dorado County Office of Education.
ALL CHAMBERS ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE

 

Film Commission - Promotes the filming of commercials, T.V., movie production and more within the County. This broadens the market for local business and promotes our historic and special attractions while generating substantial revenue.
Meets as needed.

Leadership El Dorado- This program provides education and training to help build the County’s future leaders. The program intends to send a diverse group of skilled leaders back into the community- better skilled, further motivated, with a strong vision to lead those around them toward and improved region and healthier community.

Local Commerce Council - Increases awareness of County citizens as to the impact of buying locally, including the impact on sales tax, multiplier effect of supporting local businesses, etc. Enhance business awareness on the importance of customer service and provide opportunities for improving customer service. This council has developed a yearlong sustainable campaign through TV, print media and Internet to promote shopping locally.
Meets on the second Monday of the month at 7:30 AM at the El Dorado County Office of Education.
ALL CHAMBERS ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE

 

Membership - Provides and on-going program to solicit new members and to maintain and support a strong Chamber membership representing all businesses and professions in the County. Presents extremely successful Biz Expo/Job Fair attended by 3,000 to 4,000 people.
Meets on the first Thursday of the month at 12:00 noon at the Chamber office.

 

Past Presidents - Past Presidents advisory council meet quarterly to continue to support and advise the current Chamber leadership.
Past Presidents advisory council meet quarterly on the 3rd Thursday at 8:00 am at the El Dorado County Office of Education.

 

Public Affairs / Joint Chambers - Study’s legislation and issues that affect the business community and makes recommendations to the Chamber Boards, proper agencies or members.
This Council is a strong influence in the region and impacts the outcome of issues locally, as well as regionally and at the state and national level.
Meets on the first Thursday of the month at 7:30 AM at the El Dorado County Office of Education.

Visitor Authority / Tourism - Develops a strong tourism program that will broaden the market for business and promote our historic and special attractions. This council develops programs and strategies that continue to grow tourism revenue in the County.
